Restorative Dental Treatments at Dentex Smile Studio

Dentex Smile Studio provides comprehensive restorative dental treatments to improve oral health.

Composite Fillings

Composite fillings are used to treat tooth decay (cavities). Composite resin is closely matched to your natural tooth color for a virtually invisible dental restoration.

Inlays & Onlays

Inlays and onlays can be thought of as the middle ground between a dental filling and a dental crown. Instead of covering the entire tooth, inlays and onlays restore structure to a tooth with decay too large to treat with a filling, but not substantial enough to require a dental crown.

Porcelain Dental Crowns

Porcelain dental crowns look and feel like your natural teeth. They are dental restorations that completely cover a severely damaged tooth to prevent loss of the tooth. Dental crowns are also used after root canals and to attach to dental implants.

Dental Bridges

Dental bridges restore gaps in smiles where several consecutive teeth are missing or need to be extracted. Dental bridges may attach to adjacent teeth, adjacent crowns, or adjacent dental implants (implant-supported bridge).

Dental Implant Restorations

Dental implants help keep your jawbone strong, restore your biting, chewing, and speaking ability and look and function like natural teeth. Dental implants can replace a single missing tooth, multiple missing teeth in a row, or even an entire arch of teeth. Dr. Awad offers both mini and full-size dental implants.

Dentures

A denture is a replacement for multiple missing teeth within the same (upper or lower) arch. A denture differs from a crown or bridge in that it does not rely on an existing tooth structure, and it completely replaces the missing teeth.

There are several different types of dentures:

  • Full or Partial
  • Removable or Fixed
  • Traditional or Implant-Supported

Root Canal Treatment

Root canals are no longer dental procedures to be feared. Today, a root canal typically takes less than one hour. During your root canal therapy, the interior of the tooth will be cleaned and disinfected. Dr. Awad may reshape some of the root canals to prevent future infection before filling the tooth with a biocompatible material and protecting the tooth with a dental crown.

Extractions

Tooth extractions are always a last resort. However, severe infections, dental trauma, and cracks in teeth may result in the need for an extraction. If you require an extraction, Dr. Awad will work with you to custom design a restorative treatment to replace the missing teeth.

Depending on the complexity of the extraction, Dr. Awad will gently loosen and remove the tooth.

Immediately following, gauze pads are placed for the patient to bite down on the tooth socket to apply pressure. Dr. Awad may place dissolvable and/or traditional stitches that may need to be removed at a follow-up appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions About Restorative Dentistry

Do dental crowns look natural?
Yes. At Dentex Smile Studio Dr. Awad carefully matches the shade of a new crown to your natural teeth. The crown will also match your other teeth in size and shape, resulting in a natural-looking dental restoration.
How long will a dental bridge last?
Dental bridges should last approximately seven years before needing to be replaced. With excellent oral health habits and regular dental care, they may last even longer.
Does insurance pay for dentures?
Many insurance plans offer partial coverage for dentures. For specific allowances, contact your dental insurance provider.
How do mini dental implants differ from traditional dental implants?
Mini implants use smaller posts to secure the artificial tooth. The visible part of the tooth (crown) will match your other teeth in size. Mini dental implants are often a good choice for patients who have experienced some loss of jawbone and cannot therefore support a full-size implant.
Are root canals safe?
Root canals are very safe. They don’t take much longer than getting a filling. They also preserve your natural tooth and its root so that you don’t experience jawbone deterioration.
How soon after tooth extraction can I have an implant placed?
No two patients are the same. In some cases, a dental implant may be placed as soon as the tooth has been extracted. In other cases, oral health conditions such as gum disease must be treated before you can receive dental implants.
Will my fillings show when I smile?
Today, fillings aren’t made of silver or metal materials. Composite fillings match your teeth, so they are not obvious when you smile.
What are the benefits of dental implants?
Dental implants are the longest-lasting dental restoration. They are also the only restorative treatment that replaces the tooth root. This helps preserve the facial appearance by preventing further loss of bone in the jaw. Dental implants are largely stain-resistant and are very easy to maintain.
